Stitched

Edinburgh Festival 2005 Fringe Pick Physical Theatre Scripted by Samantha Taylor, devised by the Company

What if heaven and earth, love, life and death were sewn together by one theory and what if only one person could see this - would this make that person a god? Would it make a difference?

Out of breath, racing towards the infinite, the fabric that holds us all together is tearing; propelling us even closer to universal understanding… our everyday is affected by forces holding planets in orbit and making tears fall on earth.

Exploring one of the greatest ideas of all time - ‘The Theory of Everything’, STITCHED is 5 actors, telling 5 stories, each performed with a unique theatrical style. From the epic to the miniscule, from laughter to tears and from this world to the next - all in the change of a costume, the switch of a wig, or the pulse of a body.

    REVIEWS:

AT THE end of Stitched, when five actors take a bow, it comes as something of a shock. You expect at least ten people to walk out. This is due, in part, to well-rounded performances, but also to Rough Cut Theatre's inventive staging. If a character needs to travel, they don't move, the set does. Puppeteers dressed entirely in black slide paintings, pieces of paper and furniture across the stage - anything to give the illusion of motion.

A Collection of Incredible Stories

Devised by The Company, Scripted by Samantha Wright, Directed by Peter Bramley

Incredible: Not credible; surpassing belief; too extraordinary and improbable to admit of belief; unlikely; marvellous; fabulous.

In the world of the Incredible anything can happen, one unlikely event follows another. Nothing seems credible: this is the place where the extraordinary is ordinary.

Rough Cut Theatre presents their collection of incredible stories.

Lives that seem mundane illuminate the exceptional in others, stories are woven like threads of a universal tapestry, strings of a violin each release a subtly different note in one lifelong melody.

Have you ever seen an Angel?
Have you ever beat yourself to life?
Found words in Silence?
Fallen from a wall only to land inside a bottle?

In the world of the incredible, snow stirs magic, barmaids sing, music brings flesh, and the space you see could be a lie. Skeletons fly, puppets plunge into water, photos come to life and journeys seem to have no end. In the world of the incredible love is achingly strong and death doesn’t quite exist…

Rough Cut dare you to witness the incredible.

A Christmas show… with a difference.
